Blakely, Doris (Rockcastle)
Avon: Dec. 24, 2015, at age 91. Predeceased by her husband, Kenneth. She is survived by her loving children, Doug (Penny) Blakely, Susan (Roy) Moses, Mark Blakely, Laurie Combs, Carol (Randy) Kozlowski, and Brian (Sarah) Blakely; grandchildren, Krista and Brandon Moses, and Ryan (Heidi) and Jonathan Blakely; and 2 great-grandchildren. Doris worked at Highland Hospital as a nursing supervisor for 20 years. Following retirement, she continued caregiving through Chances & Changes, the Teresa House, and compassionate in-home palliative care. An active member of the Avon United Methodist Church, she was famous for her homemade pies served at numerous church dinners.
The family wishes to thank Strong Memorial Palliative Care Unit.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 29th, from 4-7 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon. Her Memorial Service will be held Wed., Dec. 30th at 11AM at the Avon United Methodist Church, 130 Genesee St., Avon, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Avon United Methodist Church Music Program.
