Shanks, Lee W.

Lima: Died suddenly on June 9, 2017, at age 87. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Edna P. (Ryan) Shanks; children, Joseph (Audrey) Shanks, Deborah (Raymond) Years, David Shanks; grandchildren, Bradley (Dawn) Shanks, Darlene (Raymond) Guck, Austin, Alec Shanks; great grandchildren, Breanna, Kendall Guck; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Ellen Edson; brothers, Robert & Joseph Shanks.

Lee was a Korean War Marine Veteran, and Past Commander of the Francis M. Dalton Post #282, past Chief of de-gar of Livingston 40/8. He was Past Master of the Union Lodge F&AM #45, Lima. He was a 32nd degree member of the Rochester Consistory Scottish and York Rite, and a Damascus Shriner. Lee will be remembered for his published book, “Days Gone By”, as well as his weekly column in The Clarion newspaper. He was a strong supporter of the Lima Rotary, Lima Fire Dept., Lima Ambulance, and Lima Town Highway Dept. Since 1962, Lee owned and operated Shanks Enterprise which continues on today.

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, 4 – 7 pm at the O’ConnellDougherty Funeral Home, 2041 Lake Ave., Lima. On Wednesday at 2 pm, his Funeral Service will be held at West Bloomfield Congregational Church, 9035 NY-5, West Bloomfield. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lima. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lima Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 335, Lima, NY 14485.
