Condolence: Even though we never met in person, I felt a real friendship with him online and my friends that hung out with him expressed unlimited love and admiration for him. His Light still burns bright in us.

Condolence: Bruce was one of those people who you meet - whether online or in person - and you think, "wow, that's a helluva decent human being!" It's a testament to his spirit that he will be missed by so many people who never even met him in person. To his famlly, we feel your loss and can only imagine how much more profound it is for you, who knew him so well and for so long. Please know that he touched many people during his lifetime and he will live on in spirit at the website he founded. "River gonna take me, sing me sweet and sleepy, sing me sweet and sleepy all the way back home. It's a far gone lullaby sung many years ago, Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come since I first left home. Going home, going home, by the waterside I wil rest my bones. Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul."

Condolence From: Mark Harris (Denver Man)
Condolence: Bruce was the kindest, most positive, accepting and understanding person on the online forums. He was always the bigger person and a shining star in what can sometimes be a dark place in cyber space. I knew him best from Furthur.net and Terrapin Nation. Fortunately I also had the extreme pleasure of meeting him in person at a handful of Furthur shows, both on his home turf in NY and in mine at Red Rocks. He will be dearly missed in our community but we are all better people for knowing him. Fare thee well Bruce. Love, Denver Man

Condolence From: Phil "pstoltz" Stoltz
Condolence: Thanks for always being a genuinely kind & warm person. Friends are people you don't have to see or keep in touch with, but always welcome each other with open arms, a smile, & a unique sense of care. As close to family as one can come without being blood relatives. You were a great friend & a pleasure to know. While we are saddened by our loss of your light, we are grateful to have known you & watch you shine! Tell the rest of our family hello at the last show! I love you brother

Condolence From: Rob "bones" Terrill
Condolence: I knew Bruce thru the Ratdog.org board where he was one of the kindest members, always sharing links to music streams, helping others and never criticizing anyone there. I was fortunate to meet Bruce at a couple of Phil & Friends shows at the Captitol Theatre in Portchester, NY where we talked about music, we both really like Dave Nelson of New Riders, etc. Bruce will be missed by many friends in real life and on-line forums...may the 4 winds blow you safely home.

Condolence From: Montreal Jared Lang
Condolence: Although I didn't know Bruce for a long time, I will remember him for a long time. He was a kind and gentle soul who managed to touch the lives of everyone he has ever come across. If a man's legacy is the love he left behind, then Chester has left a great legacy. I will miss his kind words and his positive outlook on life. My condolences to Bruce's family and to everyone grieving today. In the words of a favorite character of his: " I have been, and always shall be, your friend."
