Best place ever to visit as kids

There was no better home to visit as kids then the Deckers. So many boy things to do. Often edging on the dangerous, cuz that’s fun. Always laughter and good humor. Swinging on vines over the ravine, riding the ‘tank’ into deep murky pond water, attacking the German club on moonless nights and smashing into trees on the precipitous escape down the hill to the row boat, jumping from the barn loft. Nailing a Volkswagen door closed still gives me a chuckle. The black lab that would retrieve fire crackers, Frisbees and anything else thrown its way and happily accept having its face painted.

And always Mrs. Decker had a great smile and a kind word. She had a special kindness to her bearing that didn’t require any affectation. Many good memories of that lady, not to mention the gift of hearing aids so to dim the noise of the multitude. She took all that chaos in stride, at least from this visitors perspective. Never heard a harsh word, never even a frown.
