Obituary for Janet M. Haley (Miller)
On November 18, 2022 at age 87. Predeceased by her husband, Lewis W. Haley and sister, Catherine Stone. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Laurie Haley, grandchildren; Roxanne (Sam) Turetsky, Zachary (Emily) Haley, sister, Peggy Beach, and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was very involved in the Avon community. She was an Avon school bus driver for 37 years and very much loved the children she drove. You would also see her selling tickets for home basketball and football games. Janet was also involved in Avon’s youth football league, including serving as President of the board. Janet volunteered for Avon Ambulance for 15 years, becoming an EMT and then an EMT instructor. She was also a member of the Avon Lioness club and a lifetime member of the East Avon Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary. During her retirement years you could find Janet and her husband Lew socializing with friends at the Avon McDonalds.
Other than her community involvement her favorite pastime were her grandchildren Roxy and Zack. She spent as much time as possible with them and spoiled them rotten. Janet attended every single school, dance, and sporting event for both. Janet loved spending time with Roxy and Zack and they are extremely grateful for having grown up spending time with their grandma almost every day.
Friends may call Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, 350 Genesee, Avon where her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 11 AM. Interment East Avon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the East Avon Fire Department, 1615 West Henrietta Rd., Avon, NY 14414.
