Jean P. Fisher
(Parker)

Avon – January 22, 2023 at age 87. She is survived by daughters, Judy (David) DeCourcey, Margaret (Jeffrey) Cappello; grandsons, Michael (Danielle), and James (Jessica Gallagher) DeCourcey, Andrew (Brittanie), Anthony (Emily), and Adam (Jenna) Cappello; great grandsons, Benjamin Anthony Cappello and John Harrison Cappello and Angelo Jeffrey Cappello; sister-in-law Joan Kurber; several nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Fisher, parents, Irma and Charles Parker, sister, Marilyn Scott, and niece, Janet Scott.

Jean was a proud graduate of the University of Delaware and a retiree of Chase Bank and was an active member of Zion Episcopal Church in Avon for over 50 years. There was no part of “church work” that was too big a project for Jean. She participated in, and often led, major projects for the church, which were an integral part of Zion as well as the fabric of the Avon community, such as the annual Strawberry Festival and Antique Show. Jean was on the Vestry for several terms and held leadership roles as Junior and Senior Warden. She managed to entice parishioners to work with her on many projects, including the startup of Circle Nursery School and establishing Zion House, a transitional home for homeless female vets, the first of its kind for women in New York State and second in the country. Most of all, she always made participation fun for all. She was also noted for her culinary expertise, especially her pies.

The family wants to thank the staff at Cloverwood Senior Living and her caregivers who provided help and became friends.

Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 1 - 3 PM at the Stephenson - Dougherty Funeral Home 350 Genesee Street, Avon where her Funeral Service will be held following calling hours at 3 PM. Private interment Avon Cemetery, Avon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Episcopal Church, 10 Park Place Avon, NY 14414 or the Macular Degeneration Association, macularhope.org, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd, Suite 100, Sarasota FL 34232-6050 in her memory.
