Daniel T. Welch

Passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023, at age 78. He is survived by his children Dan (Julie) Welch, and Krista (Tomasz) Sokolowski; his loving grandchildren, DJ (Rhiann) Welch, Sally (Archie) Cappotelli, Mary, and Thomas Welch, Adam, Aleks, and Lucas Sokolowski; his great grandson Howard Welch; sister Noreen (David) Craven, and brother Dennis (Paula) Welch, many nieces and nephews, extended family of in-laws from Ohio, and numerous dear and close friends. Dan is predeceased by his loving wife, Jane, married for 41 years, beloved son, Brian, and parents Howard and Dorothy Welch (Davin).

Dan was born in Rochester, NY on May 10, 1945, the son of Howard and Dorothy Welch. He was a very proud lifelong resident in the community of Avon and he will always be a Brave. He received his bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and served in the Army stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Dan proudly enjoyed a 37-year career in Sales working for Procter & Gamble. He was an active member of St. Agnes parish in Avon and coached numerous youth sports teams with his favorite being his son Brian’s Special Olympics baseball team. He also was a member of the Avon Pumper Company volunteer fire department. Wherever he worked, coached, or spent his time, he developed numerous lasting relationships, and he always gave unwavering love and generosity to his family and friends.

The family wishes to express their most sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Avon Nursing Home for all of the love, support, and compassionate care provided to Dan.

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Agnes Church, Avon. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Special Olympics New York.
