Message: Today is a Celebration of the life of a man who loved and was so truly loved by others. He was born October 21st, 1926, baptized Anthony Carmen Arrigenna and was called soo many names starting as baby Anthony. He came to be known as An-do, Tony, Two Ton Tony in his boxing days, Uncle Ta-Ta, Uncle Tony, Ant, Antler, Stubborn, husband, Dad, Grampa Ant, and Great Grampa Antler!!! To know this sweet sweet man of many names...was to love him, for he took joy in the simple things in life. His smile was infectious, his loud and booming voice resonant with purity and elation as he rode his lawn mower just last Tuesday, riding along and singing at the top of his lungs. His mind was analytical brilliance..he could teach you your math facts, how to start a fire with his glasses, start a fire in the fields...well you know all about that. but also how to round second base, throw a fast ball, keep a score book as good as any professional, and cook a darn good cube steak with peppers and onions. His joy was simple....It was the the sunshine and the flowers, the good rich earth in a garden meticulously planted and grown , his wife Rita with whom he just shared 64 years of marriage on September 2nd, in his family, that was more than just Tony, Rita, Kathy & Peter. Oh and don't forget the New York Yankees, his many dogs...Princess, The Queen, Petra and Molly....well Molly really belonged to Jr and Karen....and of course Arson Ant....did someone say he liked Fire? His hands were not afraid to work , his mind to think , his heart to love , his soul to believe. His greatest joys came from lunch on the picnic table with Rita, going to work every day...not missing a day as a "precision" machinist....even in a snowstorm, singing You are My Sunshine to Mandy on his lap, walking through the fields with Mark, Jeff and Mandy singing Lions and Tigers and Bears...with Mandy saying Oh My!! His mantra was Tell it like it is....he kept a Little League Scorebook that said, Think, Hustle, Win. He took a group of young boys from the little town of Fowlerville to a Championship but taught them more than just baseball. He taught them how to be good people, how to lose with respect and win with honor in a job well done. He taught us by example. His energy was limitless, his belief that you can do anything if you put your mind to it was proven throughout his life and especially in his final days. His love and deep deep pride for Peter and his "daughter" Pam was limitless ....They were neighbors, father and son... father and "daughter" forever..intertwined for a lifetime of days, but in the end....always too too short. He was so very very grateful for the care and love they have given through all the years of being neighbor, knowing full well that without this village that included, sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews that he would not have been able to live in his home.....the home that he and Rita built. For that we are all forever grateful to you, I know he is. He loved that Glenn asked him for my "hand in marriage" and confirmed what a good man he is. And these last few days surely confirmed that. His respect for the "old ways" might have been behind the times but he believed in equality and respect for all. He loved and was so proud of his two grandsons and their wives, Mark and Kristen and Jeff and Meghan. Mandy....well Mandy was his light....his Lou sin, his face would brighten up when she just walked in the yard. He so loved all the "kids" but especially his grandchildren, Victoria and Marcus James, with whom he was able to spend some quality time. He would sing to them and say Dance Baby Dance!! These were the best days.....to be Great Grampa Ant.....amazing, loving wonderful days. And while he could not hold on to meet baby Gavin in person, he knew this Happy Little Man in his heart....he holds all of them there forever. His commitment to teach others by example was the final lesson he gave to me. To live your life with dignity, respect and love.....to hold your head high, and not be afraid. To sing like no one is listening..to dance as he did with so many of you and with me ...without caring who was watching.... to know yourself and to have the strength and conviction to "Be Tough" Be Faithful to God and true to yourself. Thank you for all you have done, all you have given. Be mindful of the rainbows that have appeared in the last day or two and watch for them.....it's Mom and Dad.....celebrating. We love you Dad, An-do, Tony, Uncle Ta-Ta, Uncle Tony, Ant, Antler, Stubborn, Grampa Ant, and Great Grampa Antler!!! You are Truly One of a Kind!! xoxo -
